Benjamin Vautier is a French artist of Swiss origin born in 1935 in Naples, Italy, also simply known as Ben whose trade mark is: instructions and explanations written in cursive writing in lurid pastel tones on objects.

Inspired by Yves Klein, Marcel Duchamp and the Nouveaux Réalistes so Vautier developed a distinctive personal style with leanings towards Dada.
